Vodafone Takes Orders For HTC Desire HD, Nokia N8

Vodafone has begun taking orders for the much-anticipated  HTC Desire HD and Nokia N8 smartphones.

The HTC handset is based on Android OS 2.2, while the long-anticipated N8 is the first smartphone to be based on Symbian^3.

The Desire HD builds on the success of the Desire phone, and offers a larger screen size – with a 4.3-inch LCD display – a faster 1GHz Snapdragon processor, a better 8-megapixel camera that can record at high-definition 720p resolution.

The phone also includes access to HTCSense, a website that allows users to modify the handset’s features online.

Vodafone is offering the handset for free, with two-year contracts starting at £35 per month. Online orders get 900 minutes of calls, unlimited texts, 750MB of mobile data and 5MB of European roaming data, while in-store orders come with 600 minutes, 500MB of data, unlimited texts and no European data roaming.

The Nokia N8 comes with 16GB onboard storage, a 3.5-inch AMOLED touchscreen, a 12-megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss lenses and a Xenon flash. Its delivery was delayed several times, and is avilable for a variety of prices/

The phone is free with two-year contracts starting at £30, including 300 minutes of calls, unlimited texts and 500MB of mobile data.

The N8 comes in black or in a luminous shade of green only available to Vodafone customers.
