CIOnet is the biggest CIO and IT director community in Europe, bringing together more than 3500 IT leaders from 11 countries. Its mission is to keep the members informed of relevant developments in the sector, and make their job “easier, more rewarding and more successful”.
The organisation is something of a closed club: one enters by invitation, only if the clearly defined criteria are met. CIOnet was born in Belgium in 2005, and gradually spread out to take hold in all major European countries (Luxembourg, Switzerland and Portugal will join the list later this year).
We have previously written about the CIO Awards, the pan-European annual event put on by CIOnet, which was graced by the presence of the EU commissioner for Digital Agenda Neelie Kroes.
Our partners at TechWeekEurope Italy had a chance to chat with Hendrink Deckers, managing director of CIONet in Europe, while he was visiting Milan. Below, you can watch Deckers talking about the challenges of the job, and CIO’s role in digital Europe.
