Popular blogging service Tumblr appears to have put a block on users posting as a worm has spread across the site, defacing many users’ pages with an offensive message.
It appears an anti-blogging/trolling group GNAA has taken responsibility for the hit, suggesting that those who deleted the post would subsequently delete their Tumblr account too. However, some have claimed that people can change their passwords and then delete the post to get rid of it.
Tumblr issued the following over Twitter: “We are aware that there is a viral post circulating on Tumblr. We are working to resolve the issue as swiftly as possible. Thank you.”
Graham Cluley, senior technology consultant at Twitter, said he was unable to post blogs on the site, which “may indicate that Tumblr has temporarily disabled posting to prevent the worm from spreading further”.
