Supermarket giant Tesco has announced a £2.50 a month budget broadband service for its Clubcard holders.
However, there is a catch. Customers must also pay line rental of £13.75 a month, which pushes the total monthly cost up to £16.25, and will be subject to a fair-usage policy.
“With so many broadband offers and deals out there, it can feel like it’s all just too complicated finding the one that’s right for you,” said Tesco on their site. “That’s why we offer simple packages which are great for emailing, downloading music and movies, online shopping, sharing photos among many other things.”
Tesco’s package provides a wireless router inclusive in the monthly cost, has no set-up fees, and customers gets free evening and weekend calls. However, the advertised unlimited downloads are capped by a Fair Usage Policy (FUP), which is set at 100GB a month.
Tesco claims that speeds of up to 20Mbps will be available depending on area, and customers will be able to use their loyalty cards to gain three points for each pound spent.
“We’re sharing the love this Valentine’s day by offering loyal customers this unbeatable offer,” a Tesco spokesman said in a statement. “It’s our Valentine’s gift to the Tesco families out there, we hope it goes some way to lightening the financial load this year.”
Tesco’s initial 12-month price drop could become permanent or slightly altered depending on a decision from the European Commission regarding BT’s Openreach. Last week, Ofcom put forward plans to reduce the price BT could charge other operators for using its lines and should the proposals be implemented, competitors would be able to reduce costs for consumers.

Gryt deal bbz. Gt mine already. Xx
At what speed? My mums on Tesco BB and gets less than 0.5Mbps. Other ISPs available in her area suggest her connection is capable of 3Mbps - she's moving to BT BB!
please search for tesco workfare scheme that is being used in the UK.
Tesco really are the pits.
Sooner stay with virgin,they don't use slave's

SKY IS VERY GOOD AND BETTER THEN TESCO
Sky is very good? Your kidding right? I was with Sky since they 1st started in the UK and been treated like crap. The problem with Sky they dont give a toss about anything other than making £££s my bill arrived late by a few days they cut me off and demanded 3 months (around £140) in advance before theyd reconnect me. I cancelled my subscription 2 years ago and they keep begging me to go back with them so much i had to tell them to stop calling or writing to me as they were becoming a pest. Id never go back to Sky for any service
Im so the same was with sky for years called up one day about broadband connection problems and we get some little trainee on the other side going bye the book when you have called many times over the weeks to sort this problem anyway weeks later I'm disconnected she only disconnected my phone line so no BB and no line. I was treated badly they wante
I'd me to pay another connection fee and a new contract. Stuff sky never again and O I'm with bt and I'm getting 5 times better connection rant over
Watch out! Those cheap offers do not mean good service. We have tried Talktalk, subnet, tesconet and all are rubbish when something goes wrong or when advice is needed. You are asked to press buttons and then told you have the wrong number only to have start all over again, often without any outvcome. When Subnet left us without internet access for more than two weeks and without any interest in really helping us while the cause was theirs, we returned to BT and with their latest hub, internet access has been great. One day, something went wrong, I rang and within a couple of minutes I spoke to a very nice and patient Indian gentleman who did not give up until he had helped us sorting the problem. BT may cost a little more but I will never go back to Tesco and friends. In the end, you get what you pay for.
think I'll stick to paying Orange £11 per month for bb and landline phone calls tvm
God help anyone who takes this up, and have it go wrong!
Tesco's Customer Service is possibly the worst in the world, it used to be VERY good but has really gone down the pan over the last few years.
I personally wouldn't touch it with a barge pole, and pity anybody who does - they will learn to regret it.
All the cheap broadband offers are rubbish too slow and a waist of money ,you get what you pay for.
Not really as good a deal as it sounds. Fair usage hmmmm cut off when downloading something and need to wait till next month to continue downloading lol no thanks. Go with virgin media or someone that offers unlimited downloads. I wouldnt give this offer a 2nd look
