UK car insurance provider, Admiral Group (Admiral), has selected Teradata, a big data analytics and marketing applications company, to support its business transformation programme.
As part of its focus on increasing business agility and speed to market, Admiral chose a Teradata Data Warehouse Appliance to support end-to-end reporting, business intelligence and advanced analytics.
Admiral has a history of rapid growth and a market reputation for innovation, with 3.9 million group customers.
The Cardiff-based company conducted a competitive tender process earlier this year to identify the most appropriate, scaleable and flexible technology solution to support its business requirements and, as a result, a Teradata data warehouse was selected.
Charlotte Bennett, Head of IT, Admiral, said: “Teradata’s solution is going to enhance our data management capabilities and enable faster decision-making. We were specifically looking for a new platform to support enhanced analytics, reporting and operational activities across multiple business functions. The Teradata Data Warehouse Appliance will provide a robust foundation for our strategic plans and future business innovation, while having the capability to accommodate new data and applications.”
The investment in a new data warehouse is also expected to further enhance Admiral’s recent investment in Guidewire solutions for policy administration and billing.
Eamonn Hughes, country manager of Teradata UK& Ireland, said: “Given the insurance sector dynamics, including changes in customer behaviour and heightened competition, Teradata has seen a growing number of insurers take a more strategic look at how to make the best use of data to drive competitive advantage. Increased customer insight obtained from more diverse, granular and timely data has never been more important.”
