TalkTalk To Offer 80Mbps Superfast Broadband
ISP says it is helping the UK achieve its goal of having the best broadband in Europe with its new service
TalkTalk has announced it is to begin rolling out 80Mbps superfast broadband from April.
Current subscribers will be able to take advantage of the new speeds by paying an extra £15 a month, something the ISP says represents “unbeatable value”.

The new service will provide users with up to 80Mbps download speeds, double the previous maximum, and 20Mbps upstream speeds. Customers can pre-register for the service today with the new speeds being available from April.
“Demand is continuing to increase for superfast broadband as more customers use their internet connections to watch live television, stream HD content, talk to their friends and family or play games that require real-time responses,” said Tristia Clarke, commercial director at TalkTalk. “We expect our new Superfast Fibre Optic Broadband to be very popular as it will allow the whole family to enjoy seamless connectivity and high upload and download speeds for unbeatable value.”
The news comes the same day as BT Openreach, of which TalkTalk is a customer, announced it was doubling the speeds of its Fibre To The Cabinet (FTTC) product from April. BT said it would be up to rival communications providers, such as TalkTalk, to decide whether or not to offer the new speeds to their customers.
TalkTalk will be hoping that the increased speed of its service will allow it to regain some of the 50,000 customers that it lost in the three months leading up to February 2012. The ISP was named as the most complained about telecoms company for landline and broadband services for the period between April and June 2011.
