Despite the inclement, unseasonal weather, the great British summer of sport is almost upon us. And this year is just that little bit more special with both a British and Irish Lions tour to Australia and a home Ashes cricket series to look forward to.
As sport has developed into a multi-billion pound industry, its relationship with technology has grown closer.
Last year, the London 2012 Olympic Games could not have been the success they were without the 12 technology partners at the Technology Operations Centre, which provided everything from ticketing systems to security for the Games’ organisers.

This summer, IBM will play a crucial role in the operation of the annual Wimbledon Champions at the All England Club, while Microsoft will be Official Technology Provider of the Lions tour, providing everything from analytics to Skype to let players contact their friends and families back home.
To celebrate this ongoing relationship between technology and sport, we will be running a series of polls throughout the summer to see if your sporting knowledge matches your technological wisdom.
