Are you enjoying a super-fast broadband connection, or is your Internet slowing to a crawl? TechWeekEurope now features a speed test that will check your bandwidth.
The UK’s Internet use is the highesst of the top five European economies, according to a report from the industry regulator Ofcom. But broadband advertising is notoriously unreliable. Our speed test helps you find out what you are getting.
Like most network speed test resources, ours measures your speed by sending a set of random, uncached data from our servers to your computer and back again. We do it five times in each direction, and then calculate an average called the truncated mean.
The service works on mobile or fixed devices – though obviously, it will use up data allowances on any connection which is metered (such as your mobile). You should be aware also, that testing on a machine connected by Wi-Fi may somewhat reduce the overall bandwdith figure.
In Britain, broadband roll-out is proceeding well in urban areas, with some rural broadband supported by government money, and other operations carried out by local volunteers. It’s important to have real figures to discuss any shortfall with your service provider.

Doesn’t work. How did you test your work?
Check your work. Check your work. Check your work. Check your work. Check your work.
Um, thanks William for your kind words.
Can you say what the problem is? It is working fine for us here, on all browsers and all the hardware we have tried.
