Silicon Milkroundabout Jobs Fair Offers 500 Vacancies

Due to high demand, the organisers of next Sunday’s Silicon Milkroundabout jobs fair have announced a final phase of registrations for the 30 October event.

The fair is aimed at recruiting experienced web developers and computer science graduates for London’s start-up community, based in the heart of East London’s ‘Silicon Roundabout’.

Tech City

The event comes at a time when the British tech community is experiencing high levels of growth, resulting in many new positions being created. Over a hundred London-based start-up businesses such as Songkick, Just East and Shazam will be attending, with over 500 jobs and salaries of up to £100,000 up for grabs.

The Silicon Milkroundabout Jobs Fair takes place at Shoreditch’s Truman Brewery on Brick Lane between 11am and 5pm on Sunday 30 October, but organisers have warned that this will be the last round of registrations due to venue restrictions.

Silicon Roundabout has been touted by the Mayor of London Boris Johnson and Prime Minister David Cameron as a “Tech City,” which will form part of the Olympic Games legacy. The hope is that by uniting the disparate elements of Britain’s tech community in one place, Silicon Roundabout could potentially rival Silicon Valley in California.

Cameron said of the plan: “Our ambition is to bring together the creativity and energy of Shoreditch and the incredible possibilities of the Olympic Park to help make East London one of the world’s great technology centres.”

Google has already committed to renting a ten year lease on a building in the area, which will provide office space for start-ups and entrepreneurs, while companies such as Cisco and Yammer have also promised investment.
