Samsung Galaxy S4 To Be Announced at MWC 2013?

Samsung will reportedly unveil the successor to the Samsung Galaxy S III at Mobile World Congress in February, according to a Korean newspaper.

Executives at the company as well as local parts suppliers told The Korea Times that the Samsung Galaxy S IV, as it is unofficially known, will hit shelves in March – nine months after the release of the Galaxy S III.

The smartphone will compete with the recently-announced iPhone 5, but the Korean manufacturer is confident that the Samsung Galaxy S III will hold its own against Apple’s latest offering.

The Galaxy S IV will run Google’s Android mobile operating system and will boast a five-inch OLED screen, an increase from the 4.8-inch display of the S III, according to the reports. Samsung is apparently undecided as to whether it will use flexible display technology, possible due to a desire to maintain a one-year product schedule.

Executives from Samsung’s local part suppliers have apparently confirmed that the smartphone will “definitely” include support for 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) networks and will use in-house Exynos branded processors and quad-core chips.

There will be no major external changes and the device will retain a rectangular form with rounded corners, although Samsung is apparently in talks with major American carriers about applying modified designs – following the US case which ruled Samsung should pay Apple $1 billion for infringing the iPhone’s design.

The Samsung Galaxy S III was launched in May and has gone on to shift more than 20 million units in its first one hundred days on sale. It will be Samsung’s immediate challenger to the iPhone 5, which was announced last week and goes on sale this Friday.

  • For Samsung to pindown apple's attitude and products, they have to come up with very good product.Firstly I would say that for a phone with a huge screen they should at least make the battery last for at least 2/4 working day.I know they can do this. They could also use the screen as a solar powered but also the battery needs improvement. As for the rest,I think the design/feel could be better.Sound and pic quality especially pic quality needs a major improvements.I use my S3 mostly for pictures,I don't call as often or txt as often, but I use the camera the most.wherever I go I take pic.In terms of memory, I think they should start from 64gb and expandable to at least 128/250gb,makeit optional for customers.Good, fast and stable processor it's very important too. I want to say, Samsung do your research on what people needs from a phone and what they use the phone for they you will put down apple and other competitors.Only if you speak to us to consumers.I would like to have a good phone that doesn't age, something that I don't need to buy every month or every year.
