Samsung Pulls Android 4.3 Update For Galaxy S3 Smartphones
Samsung Galaxy S3 owners complain Jelly Bean update is severely hampering their handsets
Samsung has suspended the rollout of Android 4.3 Jelly Bean to Samsung Galaxy S3 smartphones following a number of complaints from users that the update was severely hampering the performance of their devices.
Users have flocked to Samsung’s official UK Facebook page to vent their frustrations about version 4.3, which had been highly anticipated given that the Galaxy S3 never received the previous version of Android, 4.2.
The most common reported issues are reduced battery life, random freezing, Bluetooth audio issues, stuttering music playback, poor RAM management that makes it difficult to multitask and Wi-Fi problems.

“As we are currently investigating the reported issues with Galaxy S3 4.3 Jelly Bean update, the upgrading service has been temporarily suspended,” a Samsung spokesperson told TechWeekEurope. “We are committed to providing customers with the best possible mobile experience, and will ensure to resume the upgrading service at the earliest possibility.”
It has been suggested the problems have arisen due to Samsung’s desire to make the handset compatible with the Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch as soon as possible. SAM Mobile says it has tested the Jelly Bean upgrade extensively and has come to the conclusion that the update was rushed, a view reinforced by the absence of the promised support for the Samsung Knox platform.
The Samsung Galaxy S3 was unveiled in May last year and has been a huge hit for the Korean manufacturer, which claimed to have sold more than ten million devices last Summer. The smartphone has since been usurped as Samsung’s flagship device by the Galaxy S4, which was launched earlier this year.
