Samsung Galaxy Note II Released In The UK

The Samsung Galaxy Note II smartphone is now available to buy in the UK, either SIM-free or subsidised with a contract from all major UK networks.

The successor to the tablet-smartphone hybrid Galaxy Note boasts a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED HD touchscreen capable of a 1280 x 720 resolution. Its selling point is that it can be used with the Samsung S Pen to write emails and annotate documents.

It is powered by a 1.6GHz quad-core processor and the latest version of Android, version 4.1 Jelly Bean. It includes support for HSPA+ connections and promises faster browsing and application start-ups.

There’s an eight megapixel camera on the rear for taking photos and a 1.9 front-facing camera for video calling, while content can be shared with compatible devices on the same network using the Samsung All Share feature.

“The introduction of the original Galaxy Note was a great success – we succeeded in creating an entirely new category and went on to sell more than ten million devices globally,” said Simon Stanford, vice president of Samsung’s UK and Ireland Telecommunications & Networks Divisions. “With the Galaxy Note II, we’re not only expanding the category, we’re also evolving the technology to the point where it genuinely feels as though you’re using a traditional pen and paper.

“What’s more, it’s a device that everyone can use – whether that’s a fashion designer drawing a new design, or young professionals using the multiscreen and pop-up features to edit a document, send an email and browse the web – all at the same time.”

The device is available in marble white and titanium grey flavours and is the second tablet to be launched by Samsung this year after the Samsung Galaxy Tab II.
