Samsung Announces 5.25-Inch Galaxy Grand 2 Smartphone

Samsung has announced the 5.25-inch Android-powered Samsung Galaxy Grand 2, which the Korean manufacturer claims offers a large screen experience in a compact form factor.

The new smartphone runs version 4.3 Jelly Bean of Google’s mobile operating system, and is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor and 1GB of RAM, supported by 8GB of internal storage that can be expanded by up to 64GB via a MicroSD card slot.

The larger screen facilitates multitasking, with users able to run two applications side-by-side, while the Galaxy Grand 2 comes equipped with a number of Samsung-specific features and applications, including Story Album, Sound and Shot, S Translator, S Travel and Group Play.

Dual SIM technology is also included, although LTE support is not, and the handset will be available in white, with black and pink varieties in certain territories. There is no indication is to when the phone will reach the UK and how much it will cost.

Samsung is the world’s largest producer of mobile phones, and recently announced what it claims is the world’s first cuved smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy Round. However the Korean manufacturer fears that the smartphone market could be saturating in developing markets and last week revealed to TechWeekEurope its plans to target the enterprise sector to compensate for slowing growth in the consumer space.
