The Anonymous movement is like marmite. People either love it and blindly accept everything it stands for, or consider the members to be criminals and want them hanged, even though their “crimes” rarely go beyond taking websites offline.
Do it for the lulz
Anonymous first appeared some time around 2003, born out of Internet forums and image boards. It doesn’t have membership, headquarters or even a common ideology. Indeed, some think this anarchism has started to tear the organisation apart. Anonymous is an outlet, an image that can be used by anyone to share their opinions, fight for their beliefs, and sometimes, just simply misbehave.
Some of the targets Anonymous has attacked this year include the Vatican, Brazilian banks, Virgin Media, Neo-Nazis and government websites of Greece, Poland and the UK.
They do not forget, they do not forgive, and if you anger the citizens of the Internet, you would be right to expect them.
