Nokia Windows Phone Photos Leak Before Launch

Press photos of the first Nokia phone to use Microsoft’s mobile operating system Windows Phone 7 appear to have been leaked.

The pictures (seen on PocketNow) of what is expected to be known as the Nokia 800 showcase the handset’s design and reveal it will be available in the same colours as Nokia’s MeeGo powered N9 phone – black, pink and blue.

Nokia 800 to make London debut?

The device is expected to be formally unveiled at the Nokia World conference in London next week and it has been speculated that up to two other Windows Phone Nokia handsets could be announced.

Rumours have suggested that the Nokia 800 will boast a 3.7 inch screen and will run the latest version of the Windows Phone 7 operating system, Mango.

According to speculation, the device could be launched as early as 15 November, a mere three weeks after Nokia World. This would appear to validate claims made by Nokia CEO Stephen Elop who said he expected Nokia handsets running Windows Phone 7 before Christmas.

Nokia and Microsoft agreed a strategic partnership in February in order to compete with Apple’s iOS and Google’s Android operating system. It is hoped that the deal will boost the poor market share of Windows Phone 7 and solve Nokia’s strategy crisis.

Despite seeing its market share erode in recent years, Nokia is still the world’s largest manufacturer by volume. Better than expected sales for its lower priced “feature phone” range offset the negative effects of a declining share in the smartphone market on third quarter revenues and operating profits.
