The Metropolitan Police has arrested another journalist as part of its ongoing investigation into phone hacking.

The fore said t it arrested a 33 year old man this morning after he attended a South London police station by appointment, shortly after 11:00, by officers from Operation Tuleta, the investigation into criminal breaches of privacy which is being carried out in conjunction with MPS phone hacking inquiries.

He currently remains in custody at a South London police station.

Phone Hacking

The man was arrested on suspicion of offences under the theft Act 1968, Computer Misuse Act 1990 and on suspicion of conspiracy to prevent the course of justice contrary to the Criminal Law Act 1977.

The Met says that the arrest relates to a suspected conspiracy involving the gathering of data from stolen phones. It stressed that it was “not about seeking journalists to reveal confidential sources in relation to information that has been obtained legitimately.”

A former Times journalist was arrested by the Met as part of the same investigation last week. Police said that a 28 year old man was arrested for suspected offences of the Computer Misuse Act 1990 and suspected conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.

Famous victims of phone hacking include the Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton as well as the murdered schoolgirl Millie Dowler, which prompted the closure of the News of the World.
