Nokia N900 On sale For £470

The N900, the Linux-based phone/computer from the Finnish phone giant Nokia, is now available from online stores in the UK, for a price of around £470.

The touch-screen device, which we liked when we tried it last week, has shown up on two online commerce sites. At Expansys it costs £499.99 with a £30 refund voucher to spend on the site, while at Play.com it costs £469.99. Expansys is quoting a seven-day delivery, while Play quotes a release date of 31 November.

The N97 – the Symbian/S60 based phone which the N900 resembles, costs around £449, but got less positive reviews when it appeared earlier this year, as it seemed to be underpowered. By comparison, an unlocked 32GB iPhone 3GS costs £900 on Expansys.

The N900 has been much-anticipated, even though Nokia had to delay its launch. Those awaiting it have been pleased to find that it will be available on £20 a month contracts according to mobile comparison site Omio.
