Nokia Lumia 920 Features Wireless Charging But No 41MP Camera?

Nokia’s new flagship Windows Phone 8 smartphone will include wireless charging but not a 41 megapixel PureView camera, according to a new report.

A new photo purporting to be the wireless charger has also been leaked by Evileaks, the same source of the images claiming to be the Nokia Lumia 920 that were released yesterday.

The smartphone is widely expected to be officially announced tomorrow at an event in New York and will be the Finnish manufacturer’s first device running the latest version of Microsoft’s mobile operating system.

Nokia Lumia 920

The image confirms the Verge’s claim that wireless charging would involve lining up the device on a charger pad. The wireless charger looks to be roughly the same length as the Lumia 920 and has a single cord presumably hooked up to a power source or USB port.

The Lumia 920 will apparently support the Qi wireless power standard, meaning that it should be compatible with other wireless charging products (although few currently exist). Other rumoured specifications include 32GB of storage, 1GB of RAM, a 1.5GHz dual-core processor and a 4.5-inch display.

It had been reported yesterday that the device would have the same 41 megapixel camera as the one in the Symbian-based 808 PureView, but this is apparently not the case. The Lumia 920 will carry PureView branding, but will feature only an eight megapixel rear camera and 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera.

The launch of Windows 8 smartphones is seen as vital for Nokia which announced massive losses of £1,1 billion in July.
