Nokia has confirmed the existence of the Nokia Lumia 928 on its website and could debut the device on 14 May, possibly alongside another Windows Phone 8 smartphone, the rumoured Nokia Lumia 925 Catwalk.
The Finnish manufacturer has created a webpage for the Lumia 928, which shows an image of the smartphone alongside the tagline ‘Capture the Highlights’, which hints at an imaging focus for the handset.
This could mean Nokia will include some of its PureView camera technology in the Lumia 928. Reports in February suggested Nokia would release a new model featuring the 41-megapixel sensor, as seen in ill-fated Nokia 808 PureView marketing, this summer.
It was absent from the current flagship Nokia Lumia 920, which did include PureView ‘floating lens technology’, rather than the 41-megapixel sensor.
All will be revealed at an event in London next week, during which Nokia could also take the wraps off the Nokia Lumia 925, according to a report and leaked image from Chinese site Windows Phone Bar.
Nokia recently unveiled two cheaper Windows Phone 8 phones, the Lumia 720 and 520, at Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona in February. Sales of the Lumia range increased by 27 percent to 5.6 million units during the first quarter of 2013, although slowing demand for mobile phones in general contributed to a €150 million (£128 million) loss at the troubled mobile giant.
