MWC 2012: ZTE To Unveil Two Ice Cream Sandwich LTE Handsets

Chinese manufacturer ZTE is set to unveil two new Android handsets at Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona next week.

The PF200 and N910 devices will both be powered by version 4.0 of Google’s Android mobile operating system, Ice Cream Sandwich and will have support for Long Term Evolution (LTE) networks.

Ahead of the game

The PF200 smartphone has a qHD 4.3 inch touchscreen with an eight megapixel rear camera and a 1080p front-facing camera for video calling. The phone has GPS, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity as well as support for Near Field Communication (NFC).

The N910 handset will work across the LTE, FDD, CDMA and EVDO spectrums and boasts a WVGA touchscreen, a five megapixel camera and a 1080 front-facing camera. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity is also supported.

ZTE said that the devices would boast 1.2GHz and 1.5GHz chipsets but did not specify which phone would have which, however given the higher specifications of the PF200, we would assume that it has the more powerful chipset.

The announcements are the latest in a number of new products launched by ZTE so far this year. The company had previously made handsets for other companies but began selling devices under its own brand last year.

Last month it launched what it claimed was the most affordable 4.3 inch Windows Phone on the market in the UK, the ZTE Tania, while it has also announced a low cost tablet, the ZTE v9A Light Tab 2, a seven inch device which is powered by a 1.4 GHz processor.
