Microsoft is planning to release two out-of-band security bulletins next week to fix critical vulnerabilities.

Microsoft did not release many details about the issues, but the company does not typically release patches except on its monthly Patch Tuesday.

According to Microsoft’s Advance Notification, one of the bulletins will deal with the Microsoft Visual Studio product line, while the other will affect Internet Explorer.

“While we can’t go into specifics about the issue prior to release, we can say that the Visual Studio bulletin will address an issue that can affect certain types of applications,” blogged Mike Reavey, group manager of the Microsoft Security Response Centre.

“The Internet Explorer bulletin will provide defence-in-depth changes to Internet Explorer to help provide additional protections for the issues addressed by the Visual Studio bulletin. The Internet Explorer update will also address vulnerabilities rated as Critical that are unrelated to the Visual Studio bulletin that were privately and responsibly reported.”

The bulletins are slated to be released late 28 July.
