Microsoft Readies 34 Security Fixes for Patch Tuesday

Windows users should be prepared to download ten security bulletins to plug 34 vulnerabilities in Windows, Office and IE for June’s Patch Tuesday

Microsoft is gearing up to release ten security bulletins for Patch Tuesday on 8 June.

The bulletins – three of which are rated critical – cover 34 security vulnerabilities.

Six of them affect Windows, including two of the critical ones. The final critical bulletin is for Internet Explorer.

Microsoft said it is planning to close two vulnerabilities it warned users about earlier in 2010 – a vulnerability in Microsoft SharePoint that could be exploited to escalate privileges, and an IE vulnerability reported in February that impacts customers running Windows XP or who have disabled Internet Explorer Protected Mode.

In addition to the IE bulletin and the six Windows bulletins, there are three bulletins rated important that affect Microsoft Office.

The security fixes are slated to be released 8 June.
