Michael Dell’s Daughter Loses Twitter Account After Spilling Secrets

Alexa Dell, Michael Dell’s daughter, has had her Twitter account removed after she revealed secrets about the location of her family.

The Dell founder spends around $2.7 million a year on protecting his family, according to Dell regulatory findings, but Alexa Dell was still able to compromise that security by using Twitter.

Alexa Dell posted information about a trip to Fiji with her brother Zachary, including a photo on Tumblr, which has now been removed. Having pointed to that photo on her Twitter account, Alexa also detailed when she was due to arrive in certain cities and where she was shopping.

She posted details on her high school graduation dinner, revealing where her father and his wife would be on that specific date.

“We don’t make any comments regarding Mr Dell’s, or his family’s, personal activities,” a company spokesperson told Bloomberg BusinessWeek.

Regardless of wealth and fame, placing data online can be risky for anyone. A survey released today by Kaspersky showed that 58 percent of UK consumers are leaving personal financial details exposed online. Over one in 10  still leave their password stuck on the front of their computer, whilst 31 percent  store important account details and passwords on their desktops.

Users also face the threat of having their Twitter account hacked, as happened to both Reuters and technology website Gizmodo earlier this month.
