McAfee Founder Wanted For Murder Questioning

John McAfee, the man who founded the eponymous security company now owned by Intel, is wanted for murder, according to Belize police.

McAfee is wanted for questioning over the murder of neighbour and fellow American expatriate Gregory Paul, who was shot in San Pedro Town on the island of Ambergris Caye on Saturday, said Marco Vidal, head of the national police force’s Gang Suppression Unit.

Paul had recently filed an official complaint against McAfee with the mayor’s office, claiming the founder of the famous anti-virus company had fired off guns, according to Gizmodo.

McAfee in trouble

In a recent interview with the tech publication, McAfee claimed to have connections with a number of well-known gang members in Belize.

He cut ties with the security company long ago and taken up a number of new ventures, including “aerotrekking”, a thrill-seeking activity which involved flying aircraft low over remote stretches of desert.

It is believed he was recently involved in self-experimenting with different drugs, and had become estranged from the local expat population around his residence.

Back in April, Belize police raided McAfee’s home, searching for illegal firearms and narcotics. They killed one of the guard dogs before arresting McAfee and seizing a number of different guns.

But all the guns were licensed and the chemistry equipment they found did not appear to be producing anything other than a herbal antibacterial compound. He is now on the run, however.
