LG To Reveal Dual-Screen Phone Next Month

LG is planning to unveil a smartphone featuring two screens, with a launch event reportedly set for next month.

The company has sent out invitations to an event in New York on October 1, reported Android Police, which is widely expected to feature the launch of the recently leaked LG V10 smartphone, which apparently has a small auxiliary screen above the main display.

The film industry-themed invite seems to suggest that the dual-screen capability will be linked to capturing high-quality video content.

Double up

Reports last week suggested that the LG V10 (pictured left) will also feature a 5.7in QHD resolution main display, with a smaller display in the top left of the screen, next to a 5MP front camera.

Inside, the device will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 chipset, 3GB of RAM, 64GB of storage and a 16MP rear camera.

LG has been fairly quiet in terms of releases recently, with its last flagship device, the LG G4, being revealed back in April. The South Korean company is reportedly working on one of Google’s forthcoming Nexus smartphones, with its premium device reportedly sporting Android M, a 3D camera, and fingerprint scanner.

The company’s most recent financial results saw LG report a modest rise in smartphone profits as it battled with what it called an ‘extremely challenging environment’.

The South Korean manufacturer suffered a three percent year-on-year decline in smartphone shipments, as overall second quarter sales hit 3.65 trillion won (£2 billion) – an increase of just one percent.
