Mid-Range LG L Series III Smartphones Appear Ahead Of MWC 2014
LG unveils yet more smartphones before the big event next week, this time the L 90, L 70 and L 40
LG has revealed three new mid-range smartphones ahead of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona next week – the L90, L70 and L40, comprising the third generation of the company’s L series.
All three handsets will run version Android 4.4 KitKat, have removable batteries, metallic finishes and be fully compatible with the LG Quick Window– the first smart cover from LG to be designed specifically for a mid-range smartphone, allowing users to check the time or caller through a transparent window.
The 4.7-inch LG L 90 is powered by a quad-core 1.2GHz processor, and comes with 8GB of storage and an eight megapixel camera. The 4.5-inch LG L 70 features a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 4GB of storage, 1GB of RAM and either an eight or five megapixel camera, depending on market. The 3.5-inch LG L 40 comes with a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 4GB of storage, 512MB of RAM and a 3 megapixel camera.

The Korean manufacturer hopes these features will allow the L Series III to stand out in the market and continue the success of its first and second generation models.
“In addition to inheriting the refined design aesthetic that is synonymous with LG’s premium devices, the L Series III provides an array of user benefits that extend far beyond a simple upgrade,” said Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of LG Mobile. “From the design to the OS to the UX, the L Series III exemplifies LG’s commitment to bringing the best smartphone experience to as many consumers as possible. We’re confident that the L Series III will be a strong volume driver in 3G markets.”
Last week, LG announced another handset ahead of MWC 2014, the LG G Pro 2, which includes a ‘knock to unlock’ feature that lets users unlock their phone by tapping the screen in a specific combination.
LG will hope the smartphone will continue its mobile renaissance, which has seen the company create the popular Google-branded Nexus 4 and Nexus 5 smartphones, as well as the original LG G Pro, the LG G2 and the recently-announced triple-SIM LG Optimus L1 II Tri. According to Gartner, LG is currently the world’s fourth largest smartphone manufacturer and accounted for 4.8 percent of the global market in 2013.
