Lenovo has taken to the stage at IFA 2015 to reveal a raft of new PC models as it looks to cement its status as the world’s top PC maker.
Among the new releases revealed by the company are several updates to its Ideapad and ThinkPad product line, as Lenovo looks to take advantage of the clamour for devices running Windows 10 out of the box.
And Lenovo is teaming up with Intel to include the latter’s recently-announced Skylake family of processors in the new devices, meaning they will feature top of the market power.
First up is the ideapad line, where probably the most interesting of the new releases is the ideapad 100S (see main image), a super-light Windows 10 Chromebook device costing just €239 (£168) and available in 11in and 14in variants.
There’s also a new addition to the family with the ideapad MIIX 700 2-in-1 tablet device (pictured right). Lenovo’s attempt to kill off the Microsoft Surface, the 12in device features the company’s trademark dual watchband hinges, allowing it to be used in laptop, stand and tablet mode, which will be available for €999 (£737) from January 2016.
As for home devices, the ideacentre AIO 700 desktop packs in a 6th Gen Intel Core i7 processor and 27in UHD 10-point multitouch display, delivering up to double the power, screen resolution and memory capacity from its previous generation.
As for the ThinkPad range, the most eye-catching releases are two new versions of the popular Yoga products.
Weighing in at 1.77kg, the larger ThinkPad Yoga 460 comes with a 14-inch WQHD multitouch panel and packs an Intel Core i7 Skylake CPU, 8GB DDR4 RAM, up to 1TB hard drive, three USB 3.0, Mini DisplayPort, HDMI, OneLink+ and a 4-in-1 card reader.
Both devices will be available from November, retailing for £615 and £679 respectively.
“The philosophy behind all our products is simple – customers first. Whether you are looking for greater portability, higher performance or better design, there has never been a better time for consumers to upgrade their devices this holiday season,” said Dilip Bhatia, Lenovo’s vice president, worldwide marketing and user experience, PC & enterprise business group.
