Le Web 2012 (Video): Orange Develops Mobile Apps Through Libon

Remember the London Le Web 2012 event in June? TechWeekEurope has discovered some previously unreleased content from the start-up conference on our dusty hard drives, including an interview with Giles Corbett.

Corbett is the chief product officer at Libon (short for Life Is Better On) – a recently created division of Orange that develops mobile apps. Its products include Libon Voicefeed and Libon Address Book.

Personal approach

Libon Voicefeed is a visual voicemail service – an iPhone app that enables users to create custom voicemail greetings for as many people or groups as they want.

The clever software can transcribe your voicemail messages into text, in case you want to check your inbox while in a meeting. The opposite is also true – users can type in a message and Libon will transform it into robotic speech.

By June, the service had over 100,000 active users across four European countries.

Libon Voicefeed is available for free, with a package that is limited to three personal greetings, one generic greeting, one month’s worth of message storage and simple email voicemail alerts. Alternatively, users can choose to pay $9.99 (£6.29) to get unlimited number of voicemail greetings for a whole year.

You can see Corbett talking about the popularity of the service and the reason Orange supports the project in the video below.

The company has another product on the market – Libon Address Book. It’s an Android app which incorporates your Twitter, Facebook, Gmail and mobile contacts in one simple system. It also lets you decide which people in your contact list will make your phone ring and who will get straight to your voicemail.
