Poll: Is Your IT Spending Going Up Or Down?

IT spending may be going up in many organisations, according to some recent research. But we want TechWeekEurope readers to tell us how things really are, in our latest poll.

Analysts like to pronounce on the health of the industry at the start of a year, and Gartner’s latest prediction says that IT spending is looking comparatively healthy amongst the general gloom. Within this, expenses are shifting towards the cloud, to reduce capital expenditure, and to mobile, where new devices make users more capable, according to Gartner – a conclusion backed up by a CIO survey from December.

Smarter IT spending?

Although overall spending is growing slightly, Gartner’s richard Gordon told TechWeekEurope that the growth is focused in areas where capital expense can be reduced – by shifting IT out into the cloud.

“Capital risk is being taken on by service providers and cloud providers,”  said Gordon.

Meanwhile, the CIO survey, which looked at companies with 1000 employees or more, also found a lot of emphasis on moving to the cloud, while new technologies such as mobile are requiring some investment at the moment.

Our focus in this quick poll is narrower. We simply want to know (as we regularly ask in our IT Life profiles) what is happening to your budget. Will you have more money to spend on IT this year, or will you be cut back further?
