One feature that is widely expected is the presence of a larger screen. The photos show that the alleged iPhone 5 has a larger screen than its predecessor and is also thinner. It is believed that the new iPhone will use a nano-SIM rather than the Micro SIM used in previous iterations and the photos show a slot for the SIM on the side of the purported device.
Another anticipated development is the presence of a new connector which will render all existing chargers and accessories useless. Apple’s believed reasoning as that the current 30-pin connector that has been used since the third generation iPod takes up too much space at the bottom of the device and limits its freedom with regards to design.
The leaked images show a much smaller connector cable at the bottom, along with a repositioned headphone jack. On Monday, a French blog posted another set of leaked images, which it claimed was the new connector. The cable looked similar to a MicroUSB and can apparently be used even if it is not the right way up.
Other expected features of the iPhone 5 include support for European 4G networks and Near Field Communication, however all will be revealed tonight.
