Huawei Announces ‘Beyond LTE’ 30Gbps Tech

Huawei has announced its Beyond LTE technology which will be able to offer speeds of up to 30Gbps, more than 20 times faster than any existing Long Term Evolution (LTE) network.

The Chinese manufacturer claimed the technology achieves various breakthroughs that improve the efficiency of mobile networks and reduce energy consumption.

Beyond LTE

The Chinese giant said the super speeds were achieved through an innovative antenna structure, which promises to improve performance and meet wideband performance via a next-generation direct radio frequency. In addition, Beyond LTE’s multi-antenna coding algorithm allows the technology to make full use of MIMO (Multi-input, multi-output) channel capacity.

“Mobile networks are developing at an unprecedented rate,” said David Wang, president of Huawei’s wireless network business unit. “Future technologies will bring revolutionary advances in network evolution – higher spectrum efficiency, wider spectrum aggregation and faster access rates. Our Beyond LTE technology signifies the future of mobile broadband.”

Huawei’s TD-LTE (Time Division – Long Term Evolution) technology was used in the creation of UK Broadband’s 4G network in South London last month, in what was claimed to be the first commercial 4G deployment in the UK.

However, despite the existence of commercial LTE networks in Finland, Sweden and Germany, Ofcom has warned that a true 4G service may not be available in the UK for another four years.

Ofcom recently revealed its revised proposals for the auction ahead of a second consultation into the process, which is now unlikely to take place until the end of the fourth quarter of this year.
