HTC One: The One To Beat In 2013

The HTC One has been finally announced as the Taiwanese firm’s 2013 Android flagship, putting an end to all the rumours that have been doing the rounds of late.

HTC’s new handset, formerly codenamed the HTC M7, was unveiled during a special event in London earlier this week and it certainly hasn’t failed to impress.

With a spec sheet to rival wares from the likes of Apple and Samsung, HTC’s latest offering is a stunning handset with a sleek and modern design.

One more time

HTC One features:

  • Stunning 4.7-inch full 1080p HD display
  • 1.7GHz quad-core processor
  • Sense 5.0 user interface
  • UltraPixel Camera
  • BoomSound stereo speakers

HTC’s new Sense user interface skins the Android Jelly Bean OS to produce something called BlinkFeed – HTC’s all new tiled homescreen. Somewhat similar to Windows Phone’s Live Tiles, it brings your media activity and social network feeds together on the same screen.

A headlining feature of the HTC One is the UltraPixel camera, which has been described by Peter Chou, HTC CEO, as a “revolutionary camera to change the way you think about photos”. Featuring a function called ‘HTC Zoe’, the lens automatically captures a series of high-resolution photos and a short HD video at the same time. Thanks to a variety of editing options you can then alter any of the frames as you see fit.

HTC is once again pushing its partnership with Beats Audio technology, and  HTC One features high-tech BoomSound stereo speakers, powered by a built-in amplifier to produce bigger and clearer sounds, while reducing the chance of distortion.
