HP Reveals Its Windows 10 Line-Up

One of the world’s largest PC manufacturers has revealed that it is not planning to launch any new products on the launch of Windows 10 later this month.

Instead, HP has said it won’t be putting any Windows 10-enabled PCs on sale until several weeks after the launch of Microsoft’s latest software suite.

The company said it will only start shipping products with Windows 10 pre-installed “beginning in mid-August into October”.

Lacking?

When the time does come, however, HP does have a few products up its sleeve in order to show off the power of Windows 10.

This includes a limited edition of the HP EliteBook Folio 1020 (pictured left), a super-slim and light ‘business-class notebook’ built in partnership with Bang & Oulfsen to feature some souped-up audio capabilities, which will be available in September.

There will also be the recently-announced HP Pro Tablet 608, an all-metal device that, at 0.32 inches (8.35 mm) and weighing 360g, will be one of the lightest and thinnest tablets around. This is available today, and can be upgraded to Windows 10 following its launch later this month.

Both these business-focused devices will be using the advantages of features such as Cortana and Skype for Business, available for the first time in Windows 10, to help workers on the go stay connected.

Migration

The company is also offering a number of support and services to help make the migration to Windows 10 as easy as possible for businesses both large and small.

For the latter, the company is offering HP Subscription, gives SMBs the ability to select a bundle of hardware, software and services designed for ease of use and more predictable refresh every two to three years – all for a monthly fee.

For large corporate and enterprise organisations, HP will offer a full suite of services, including client configuration and deployment services, to help customers migrate and transform to Windows 10.

Rise and fall

HP’s statement is an intriguing one, particularly given as several major analyst firms have blamed the recent plummet in PC sales partly on manufacturers holding back new products for the launch of Windows 10.

Figures released last week by Gartner said that the number of PCs shipped worldwide numbered just 68.4 million units in the second quarter of 2015, a 9.5 percent drop compared to last year, as manufacturers failed to sell inventory ahead of the launch of Windows 10.
