HP is aiming to give enterprises better visibility across their traditional, mobile and cloud environments thanks to a new integrated security platform: the Security Intelligence and Risk Management (SIRM) platform.
According to HP, SIRM will also enable businesses to apply adaptive security defences based on specific organisational risks, so banks, for example, can guard against a particular form of risk specific to financial institutions.
HP has recognised that, as it seeks to play a greater role in the security market, many organisations are struggling to ensure their security systems are keeping pace with the changes occurring in the industry.
HP believes its Security Intelligence and Risk Management (SIRM) platform bridges the gap between security and IT operations, “helping organisations to move beyond a bolted-on, single-purpose product strategy.”
SIRM is significant because essentially it integrates all the products HP acquired when it purchased ArcSight, Fortify and TippingPoint, and which it used to form the HP Enterprise Security Products group last year.
“Today’s attacks are so complex and difficult to detect, a traditional approach to security just can’t provide the level of insight necessary to secure the extended enterprise,” said Tom Reilly, vice president and general manager, Enterprise Security Products, HP. “The HP Security Intelligence and Risk Management platform offers visibility into diverse security environments as well as contextual intelligence to proactively manage risk from applications to network – and IT governance.”
For example, HP says that its HP EnterpriseView tool provides C-level executives with a dashboard and prioritised heat-map view of risk across the enterprise. This single view enables security executives to proactively address the highest business risks and rapidly deploy adaptive defences.
Meanwhile HP Application Security Monitor (AppSM) provides visibility into application security threats, and shortens the time needed to deploy monitoring by significantly reducing costly custom programming.
HP Mobile Application Security also protects the mobile application ecosystem through line-of-code precision to identify potential vulnerabilities for applications built for iOS and Android devices.
And HP TippingPoint Next-Generation Intrusion Prevention System (NGIPS) – delivers protection against complex application threats in conjunction with the HP SIRM platform.
Meanwhile the risks associated with cloud adoption are catered for, as HP is now offering a HP Cloud Connections Partner Programme that provides visibility into user activity within Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) environments.
And the HP Compliance Stack helps customers ensure physical, virtual and cloud environments meet compliance requirements.
As would be expected with enterprise-class systems of this nature, prices are not cheap.
HP EnterpriseView for example will set you back at least $250,000 (£157 569). Pricing for HP AppSM will start at $5,000 (£3,151) per application server.
