Google Nexus Two Rumours Add Specs
Specs have emerged for Google’s supposed Nexus, along with a rumoured US operator – T-Mobile
Rumours of Samsung-made Nexus Two phone from Google have continued, with the addition of a supposed list of specificiations, and T-Mobile suggested as the first US operator to carry it. Google and Samsung have, of course, refused to comment.
Google is planning to launch a Nexus Two phone, made by Samsung and running version 2.3 of the Android operating system, according to reports on the Android and Me blog last week. The blog now has a list of specifications for the phone, and names T-Mobile as the first operator to have it
Gingerbread release on 11 November?
Google’s Nexus One phone was made by HTC and despite acclaim from reviewers, was cancelled by Google early this year. Google has argued that it did its job in raising the bar for the specification of Android phones, helping the platform become a rising star – and has told the media it has no plans for a Nexus Two.
Despite this, Samsung is known to have a press conference booked for 8 November, and the next version of Android, version 2.3 Gingerbread, is reportedly due to be announced on 11 November.
The specifications leaked on Android and Me include a 1.2GHz processor, 512M RAM and 16Gbyte of storage, a 4in AMOLED screeen, and most importantly “stock” Android 2.3 Gingerbread – meaning a standard version of the OS without operator “enhancements”.
Other sources predict the phone will be an update of the Samsung Galaxy S, with improved video functions, such as the ability to make video calls using a front-facing camera.
The inclusion of T-Mobile as an operator partners is no surprise as it was the first partner for the Nexus One. In the UK, the phone is expected to be available from Carphone Warehouse.
