Google Gives Away Nexus S To Twitter Contest Winners
Google is giving away ten Nexus S smartphones via Twitter to the winners of daily puzzles
Google is giving away ten Nexus S Android 2.3-powered smartphones on Twitter, posing daily puzzles for contestants to crack with speed and creativity.
According to Google’s official rules, participants can submit solutions to puzzles, photo challenges and short essay questions – which are posted everyday at 9am Pacific Time (5pm GMT) – via the Google Nexus Twitter page.
Eligible participants must be legal residents and physically located in either the UK, the US or Canada, with an exception of the province of Quebec. They also have to be above the age of majority in the country they live in.
In the latest challenge on 7 December, tweeters were asked to write a haiku about why they should be the winner of a Nexus S.
At time of writing, the next puzzle preview hints: “brush up your Android 2.3 SDK knowledge, this one’s for coders”.
Creative, accurate and timely
Winning entries are chosen on a daily basis by a ‘panel of experts’ made up of Google employees. The criteria differ according to the type of question.
For puzzles, the accuracy and timeliness of the answer is the most important. Solutions to short essay questions and photo challenges, however, must reflect creativity, originality, humour and the best use of 140 characters, including the @googlenexus reference.
Ten Nexus S phones will be awarded to ten winning entries with the highest scores.
The Contest period began on 7 December and will end at 11.59pm Pacifit Time (7.59pm GMT) on 16 December 2010, with a limit of one entry per person per day.
Co-developed by Google and Samsung, the Nexus S has a four-inch contour display. The phone is powered by a 1 GHz Hummingbird processor and features a five megapixel rear-facing camera and VGA front camera for video chat.
