Everything Everywhere, the UK’s biggest communications company, has announced it will use CloudApps’ sustainability and energy management software as part of its Carbon Reduction Commitment (CRC) compliance programme.
CloudApps helps other companies develop, implement and maintain a sustainable business model, which is especially important ahead of next year’s introduction of mandatory carbon reporting.
CloudApps Sustainability Suite enables businesses to measure and control their energy consumption in kWh, carbon equivalent in CO2 emissions, and their Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE), a measure of data centre efficiency.
“The work we have embarked on with CloudApps underlines our commitment to working with the government to meet the UK’s carbon reduction targets,” said Matthew Wherry, director of property and workplace at Everything Everywhere.
“The wide-ranging remit we have jointly developed with CloudApps now covers everything from our 720 Orange, T-Mobile and Everything Everywhere retail stores to the diesel in our data centre back-up generators, enabling us to reduce our carbon emissions across the whole business.”
“CloudApps’ relationship with Everything Everywhere is symbolic of the type of customer opportunity that we are increasingly seeing for our business. Everything Everywhere is a complex business with strong commitments to the environment – specifically carbon management,” added Peter Grant, CEO of CloudApps.
Last month, the UK government announced that all businesses listed on the Main Market of the London Stock Exchange will have to report their levels of greenhouse gas emissions from the start of the next financial year. It was welcomed by green industry lobbyists and firms providing carbon accounting.
