EE 4G Launches 30-Day SIM Only Plans

EE 4G has launched a range of 30-day SIM-only plans for users who do not want to be tied down to a 12-month contract.

Plans start at £23 per month for unlimited UK calls and texts with a 500MB data limit, with more expensive plans including a larger data allowance.

The highest is £63 a month for a whopping 20GB of data, with each 30-day plan £2 a month more expensive than its 12-month counterpart. EE 4G first launched its SIM-Only plans in November last year, which themselves are £15 a month cheaper than a 24-month deal with a handset.

“It’s our ambition to provide consumers with the most comprehensive range of 4GEE plans possible,” said Simeon Bird, director of propositions at EE. With these new 30-day options, we’re pleased to be providing an even more flexible way to access 4G.”

EE is the UK’s only current 4G operator, having been granted permission by Ofcom to launch an LTE service on its existing spectrum last October. It currently has 318,000 EE 4G subscribers and plans to reach one million by the end of 2013.

EE has announced it will double the amount of 1800MHz bandwidth dedicated to 4G from 10MHz to 20MHz, enabling top speeds of 130Mbps in Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, Liverpool, London, Manchester and Sheffield, while it will also stock the UK’s first ‘CAT4’ 4G device, the Huawei E5576 Mobile Wi-Fi, to allow users to take advantages of these speeds.

The other major UK operators, including O2, Vodafone and Three, are all expected to launch similar services before the end of 2013.
