New 20GB EE 4G Plan Targets ‘Super-Users’

EE is hoping to win over customers put off by the price and data caps of its EE 4G service by announcing two new price plans, one for entry level users and another for ‘super-users’.

The UK’s only current 4G operator is now offering a promotional plan promising unlimited UK calls and texts, and 500MB of data for £31 a month to customers who sign up before 31 March.

There is a choice of either the HTC One SV LTE or Nokia Lumia 820 for £29.99, which EE says is a saving of £90 compared to existing deals. Those who want just a 12-month contract must be prepared to pay £41 a month, while an extra £5 a month lets customers use their calls and texts abroad in certain countries.

New EE 4G plans

The second new plan is aimed at the other end of the spectrum. EE claims to have listened to customers who have shown a desire to use more than the 8GB currently available on its largest 4G plan.

To appease these ‘super-users’, which EE says accounts for fewer than one percent of its EE 4G customers, it will offer 20GB of mobile data for £46 a month on a 12-month SIM only plan if customers sign up before the end of February.

A handset is available for customers willing to pay £61 a month for 24 months – a total of £1,464 for the life of the contract.

“It’s our aim to offer consumers the most comprehensive range of 4GEE price plans,” said Pippa Dunn, chief marketing officer at EE. “With these new options we’re looking to not only make 4G smartphones even more accessible, but offer even greater value for the small number of super-users out there – ensuring EE really does offer a package that’s tailored for all customers 4G needs.”

EE 4G is currently available in 16 UK cities with 17 more towns to be added by March 2013.

  • The service is absolutely terrible
    This came from one of their operatives as I could not for the life of me get 4G to work in Central London. They were willing to cancel the contrat because of the massive issues

    "All I can do is apologise – there is a network issue at the moment and I cant give an exact resolution date – if you send me the mobile number we provided ill cancel it down" - ie they would cancel the contract due to the lack of 4G service.
