EE 4G Switched On In 11 New Towns And Cities

EE 4G has been switched on in 11 more towns and cities, bringing the total number of locations to 85, covering more than 55 percent of the population.

LTE coverage is now available in Aldershot, Basildon, Basingstoke, Bracknell, Hitchin, Horsham, Leatherhead, Letchworth, Stevenage, Warrington and Weston-super-Mare.

EE is the UK’s only current 4G operator having been given permission to launch an LTE network using its existing spectrum last year. Its monopoly will end later this year when the other major operators roll out 4G networks using bandwidth recently acquired in the Ofcom spectrum auction.

EE 4G roll out

“Today’s launch sees us continue to extend the reach of superfast 4G mobile to more consumers and businesses across the UK, from Warrington to Weston-super-Mare,” said Olaf Swantee, CEO of EE.

“With double-speed 4G launching this summer, as well as shared 4GEE plans and Pay-As-You-Go 4G Mobile Broadband, we continue to innovate and enable the best possible digital experience for our customers.”

EE has set itself the ambitious target of securing one million 4G customers by the end of the year, having already attracted 500,000 subscribers. To help achieve its goal, EE plans to double its 4G speeds in a number of major cities and earlier this week announced that it was improving coverage in London’s Tech City.

The operator recently introduced 30-day SIM only plans and pay-as-you-go tariffs for those who do not want to be attached to a long term contract.
