EE 4G Arrives In 12 More Towns With Coverage Boosted On Commuter Routes

EE has switched on 4G in 12 more towns across the UK, while it has also improved coverage along major commuter routes between Edinburgh and Glasgow and Cardiff and Swansea.

From today, residents in Antrim, Coleraine and Newtownabbey in Northern Ireland, Bridgend and Pontypool in Wales, Livingstone in Scotland and Burnley, Leigh, Macclesfield, Nuneaton, Sittingbourne and Tamworth in England will be able to access the operator’s LTE network, bringing the total number of 4G-enabled towns and cities to 187.

EE 4G coverage

“Our 4G rollout is continuing at an industry-leading pace, reaching more and more people in places right across the UK,” says EE CEO Olaf Swantee. “We’re connecting major towns to make sure that consumers, commuters and businesses have 4G where they live and where they work.

“As well as expanding our 4G network into new areas, our teams are switching on new 4G sites in our existing 4G cities and towns to make the EE network experience even better.”

Earlier this week, EE introduced new entry-level plans for consumers and businesses, lowering its cheapest 4G package to £13.99 a month as well as its own-branded smartphone, the EE Kestrel, which is £99.99 on pay-as-you-go, or free with a contract. SMBs, corporate and public sector organisations can also take advantage of new security options being offered by EE for any business that takes out a 4G plan.

EE’s 4G network was recently named best network by independent research firm RootMetrics, but just days later suffered a network issue that prevented many of its users from connecting to the service.
