Cloud storage provider Dropbox has announced a range of new features for its enterprise customers, including the ability to link personal and business accounts across a range of devices, and additional administration tools.
Dropbox for Business users will now be able to access both their personal and work accounts, with the mobile application able to determine which files are saved to which profile. For example, photos uploaded from the handset’s camera will be sent to the personal account.
Other new features include shared audit logs, which provide admins with greater control over what company data is being shared and who has access to it, while remote wiping functionality protects against the loss or theft of a device. Businesses can also transfer accounts from one user to another, ensuring that if a member leaves the team, there is no disruption to the workflow.
“With your new Dropbox for Business account, you can know exactly what’s happening to corporate data, take action if something goes wrong, and easily continue your business when employees move on,” added Dropbox. “Most importantly, you can do all of this without putting your corporate data at risk.”
Dropbox for Business launched earlier this year as part of an effort to promote the platform among enterprise users, in light of increased competition from the likes of Box, Google Drive and SkyDrive. The service had previously come under fire for its security credentials, and had to explain why its systems open user documents.
