Dell On Spending Spree As Make Technologies Acquisition Announced

Dell has capped a week of acquisitions by announcing it will purchase Make Technologies, a provider of legacy modernisation software and services.

The definitive agreement to acquire Make comes just a few days after Clerity Solutions and Wyse Technology were swallowed up by Dell.

As with the transactions on Monday and Tuesday, no details about the purchase have been provided, though Dell said the deal would remain subject to customary conditions and is expected to close in Q2 of the fiscal year.

“With the acquisition of Make Technologies, Clerity Solutions and existing Dell Services capabilities, Dell provides end-to-end solutions from hardware through application migration services,” the company said in a statement.

“The combination of Make Technologies and Dell provides the market with a single vendor solution for any modernisation activity and is an exciting step in expanding growth opportunities for our core application modernisation software and services,” said Bill Bergen, president and CEO of Make Technologies. “Together, with Dell’s global reach, scale and reputation for customer support, Make’s methodology and tools will become even more accessible to more customers struggling with the dilemma that surrounds legacy environments.”

Dell Services president Steve Schuckenbrock notes that Make’s operations will intertwine with Clerity’s post-acquisition to “lead in the fast-growing application modernisation space”. Clients are expected to benefit from an all-in-one legacy modernisation package including re-hosting, re-platforming and code re-engineering.
