Dell Announces Three New Windows 8 Devices

Dell has unveiled a number of  new Windows 8 devices, including the updated Inspiron One 23, XPS One 27 and the XPS 12 laptop/tablet hybrid.

All three will feature touch-enabled screens designed to work with Microsoft’s latest operating system. Dell claims that the new machines are enterprise-ready and perfect for a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) environment.

These systems are currently available to pre-order for customers in the UK, France and Germany, and will be available throughout Europe in the next couple of days.

Breaking new ground

For starters, Dell has updated the popular Inspiron One 23 All-In-One PC, adding touchscreen capability to its 23-inch full HD display and will set customers back £897.

The XPS One 27 is designed for creative professionals and features a 27-inch wide quad HD display, which has 78 percent more pixels than a full HD display. Its articulating stand tilts the display to a 60-degree angle, providing additional options when using the touchscreen interface.

Inside, users will find a 3rd generation Intel Quad Core processor and up to 8GB of DDR3 RAM. The optional NVIDIA high-performance graphics card and solid-state drive can raise the productivity of the system further, but even without these extras, it costs a premium £1799.

The most interesting device out of the three, the XPS 12, is actually two devices in one. It is a fully-powered laptop that easily becomes a fully-featured tablet. The flip hinge touchscreen display makes it possible to switch the device form-factor with a simple flip.

When in tablet mode, the display completely covers the keyboard, protecting it from dirt and spills, while the full HD screen offers 90 percent more pixels than a standard HD display.

The XPS 12 is made of durable machined aluminium and carbon fibre, and its screen is covered with Corning Gorilla Glass. It is available to pre-order for £999.
