Hybrid cloud provider Cloudian has backed smart data for the Internet of Things era with its updated HyperStore software.
HyperStore 5.1 is an Amazon S3-compliant, plug-and-play hybrid cloud software solution that now features full Apache Hadoop integration. This is so businesses can turn big data into something called ‘smart data’ by running HAdoop analytics on HyperStore software and appliances.
“Analytics is the foundation of smart data. To store data on a smart system like HyperStore, and run Hadoop on top of it, offers huge business advantages to enterprises in terms of scalability, efficiency and cost savings,” said Paul Turner, chief marketing officer at Cloudian.
“From the financial industry to medical research, there is no shortage of markets that will benefit from turning big data into smart data in pursuit of realising market- and revenue-shifting insights.”
Cloudian also announced it has joined the Hortonworks Technology Partner Program and has successfully completed testing, thereby achieving Hortonworks’ Certification. By achieving certification, Cloudian HyperStore customers now have access to Hortonworks Data Platform (HDP).
“We are pleased to welcome Cloudian to the Apache Hadoop community and look forward to working with them to help strengthen Hadoop’s role as the foundation of next-generation
“HyperStore 5.1 helps further Hadoop and its YARN architecture for the enterprise, offering the open source technology community robust, best-in-class data storage with built-in, real time data analytics.”
Last July, Cloudian scooped up $24m in new capital from investors. The interest came from Cloudian’s betting that entirely cloud-based storage platforms won’t last. Cloudian are clearly not alone in the hybrid cloud vision, but channel deals with the likes of Amazon Web Services and others are greatly helping the firm.
