Byte Night 2011 Will Help Young People Again

IT charity Byte Night is taking to the streets again, to raise money for homeless children, after a record-breaking event in 2010.

Tech workers will sleep out on 7 October in order to raise money for charity Action for Children, which provides secure accommodation, education and training for young people. eWEEK Europe Editor Peter Judge will join the London event, alongside others in Reading, Edinburgh and Cambridge.

Last October saw over 600 people participate in Byte Night at four locations across the UK for the latest in an annual series of Byte Nights which began twelve years ago. Together they helped to raise a record breaking £567,000 despite the downturn and helped hundreds of vulnerable young people across the UK.

As well as sponsorship for sleepers, the event raises money through a charity auction and raffle during the evening, as well as events before hand such as bake sales, to help sleepers reach the totals they have pledged.

Teams from firms including BT and KPMG have taken part and introduce a healthy element of competition between the industry’s big players to the night.

More sleepers are welcome, as well as sponsors for any of those already taking part.
