Six New BlackBerry OS 10 Devices In 2013?

The BlackBerry OS 10 rumour mill is grinding away at full throttle after an image claiming to be the BlackBerry L series appeared on the Internet.

The image shows a full touchscreen smartphone displaying a number of application icons in a grid formation, including Facebook, BlackBerry Messenger and DocsToGo.

Pocket Lint had earlier claimed that up to six devices running BlackBerry OS 10 were planned for 2010 and claimed to have seen two of them, including a full touchscreen handset and one with a QWERTY keyboard similar to the BlackBerry Bold 9900.

The full touchscreen device has a 1280 x 720 resolution screen while the QWERTY device has a 720 x 720 display. Apparently the hardware has been finalised and is now in a testing phase being carried out by RIM and operators. That process is not expected to take place until the launch of BlackBerry OS 10 next year.

A previously leaked BlackBerry OS 10 roadmap indicated that there would be five new devices released next year and RIM rolled out a prototype to developers in March. It boasted a 4.2-inch screen which supported a resolution of 1280 x 768, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity.

RIM has struggled as of late, with thousands of employees being made redundant as part of an ongoing restructuring process. Its hopes for a revival rest on the successful launch of devices running BlackBerry OS 10, which has been repeatedly delayed.

It sustained a massive £333 million loss in the second quarter of 2012 and there had been reports it could split up into two companies.
