EE To Offer BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10

EE is to offer the BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 (BES10) mobile management platform to business and public sector customers.

BES 10 provides security and application management for BlackBerry 10 smartphones as well as mobile device management for smartphones and tablets running Android and iOS.

The platform also enables BlackBerry Balance on BlackBerry 10, a feature which separates work and personal data and apps, effectively creating two profiles.

EE BES 10 roll out

EE will make BES 10 available from 2 April, with prices starting from £14 per month for 1GB of mobile data. All price plans include user licenses, server software and dedicated BB support from EE, while 4G can be added for an additional £3 a month.

Recovery hopes

The BlackBerry Z10 is currently the only smartphone running BlackBerry 10, which is seen as vital to the future of the company, which has seen its share of the smartphone market slide in recent years as a result of increased competition from the likes of Apple and Samsung.

It is hoping to retain and attract public sector customers, but it has emerged that BlackBerry 10 has not yet been approved for government use, although this is expected to arrive in the summer once testing has been concluded.

On Thursday, BlackBerry will reveal its first results since launching the BlackBerry Z10 earlier this year, although analysts reports of a lacklustre US launch have affected the company’s share price.
