Asus Launches Windows 10 PC On A Stick

Asus has revealed its plan to get Windows 10 into as many homes and offices as possible with the launch of a low-cost ‘PC on a stick’.

Costing just $129 (£84), the VivoStick PC can be plugged into any display with an HDMI port to transform it onto a working computer, and will offer up Microsoft’s latest software to sweeten the deal.

Measuring in at 138 x 34 x 15mm and weighing just 70g, the device uses an Intel Cherry Trail Atom processor, 2GB of RAM and 32GB storage, and also comes with one USB 2.0 and a USB 3.0 each.

There is also a microUSB connector for power, Bluetooth 4.0 and 802.11n Wi-Fi support, and a headphone jack for audio input, making this an ideal product for those who favour portability and ease of use.

Pocket-sized

Asus’ release is the latest from a major PC manufacturer looking to get on board with the micro PC trend.

Back in June, Lenovo announced its ideacentre Stick 300, which packs an entire PC onto one device that is the size of a USB stick and costs just £129.99.

Earlier this year, Intel also revealed its Compute Stick device, which also offered the ability to turn any display into a PC, and was boosted earlier this week by the release of a remote keyboard app.

Google has also announced a PC-on-a-stick back in April, teaming up with Asus for the Chromebit, a $100 device which runs the company’s Chrome OS software.
