Asus Transformer Pad Arriving In UK This May

Asus has confirmed that the latest of its tablet-laptop hybrids, the Asus Transformer Pad TF300T will be released in the UK This May.

The device, which is being billed as “powerful, yet affordable”, will cost £399 and will include the keyboard dock.

Powerful, Affordable

The Transformer pad is powered by a quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 processor, a 12-core GeForce GPU and 32GB of internal storage. A MicroSD slot allows for additional storage, while all users will receive 8GB of space on ASUS WebStorage.

The tablet runs the latest version of Google’s mobile operating system, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and is upgradable to future versions. An eight megapixel camera is capable of recording full high definition video, which can be played back on the device’s 10.1-inch WXVGA screen.

Battery life extends to 10 hours using the pad, and 15 hours using the keyboard dock, which as the tablet’s unique selling point, features a full QWERTY keyboard. The device weighs in at 635 grammes and measures up at 9.9mm thick.

PC World and Currys stores will stock the royal blue variety from May, with other retailers following in June, along with two new colours; iceberg white and torch red.

The tablet succeeds the troubled Asus Transformer Prime, which was subject to numerous delays and even a lawsuit from toy manufacturer Hasbro over claims that Asus infringed on its trademarks. There were complaints about the device’s Wi-Fi and GPS functionality, with the company promising to offer refunds or an extended warranty to customers affected by the latter fault.
